Enrico Sala was born in Salorino in 1943
where he still leaves and works. He attended the Academy in Brera, Milan (Enrico
Manfrini and Giovanni Conservo), later he worked as an Art Teacher. After a
few years he turned again to sculpture, which he had abandoned because of
his teaching duties. He completed his studies at the University in Paris
VII, where he obtained the degree in "Arts Plastiques".
During one of his journeys to discover of the
world, Enrico Sala had occasion to visit Cambodia, which was starting to
recover from the horrors of the genocide perpetrated by the infamous Pol-Pot.
While talking to people and visiting the villages, he realised that he had
to do something to alleviate people's pain and suffering as a result of
poverty and lack of resources.
